The Rising Sun Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2011 Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts on September 17th and 18th, 2011.
Please visit the website, www.zapplication.org for further information on rules, regulations and booth space, as well as to apply. All applications must be made via www.zapplication.org. Applications are due by May 22, 2011.

Winners of Rising Sun 6th Juried Art Show
Marianne Wiggers of Lawrenceburg won Best of Show for her watercolor California Bound in the Rising Sun 6th Juried Art Show. Other winners included Judges Merit Award: Andrea Grimsley, Rising Sun; Ray Hassard, Cincinnati, Oh; and Larry Rudoleech, Hanover, In; Third Place: Paul Loehle, Columbus Ohio for his pastel, “Monaco”; Second Place: Michael Paolerico , Cincinnati, Ohio for his charcoal, “Childhood, Past, Present and Future; and First Place: Tina Tammaro, Cincinnati, Oh for her oil, “It Was 65 degrees & Not Much Left of the World.
Fifty artists from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky competed in the Rising Sun 6th Juried Art Show at the Pendleton Art Center 201 Main Street in Rising Sun Friday October1. The show was Sponsored by the Ohio County Tourism Commission.
The judge for the show was Ruth K. Meyer. Ruth K. Meyer is an art historian and freelance art critic living in Covington, Kentucky. During an active professional career she was curator and interim director of the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, director of the Ohio Foundation of the Arts, Columbus, and director of the Taft Museum of Art. Ruth Meyer has a BFA (U. of Cincinnati), MA in Art History (Brown University), and a PhD in Art History (U. of Minnesota). She has also taught art history in Minnesota, Ohio and at an international college in Japan. Since 2006 she has been a contributing editor for The Artist’s Magazine where she published more than 20 feature stories and has also contributed to Art in America. She has been a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Institute of Museums Services and has been a juror for many regional art competitions. Her most recent publication is the invited essay in Frank Herrmann, Paintings 1999 – 2009. Ruth Meyer is a member of the International Association of Art Critics, (A!CA).
The show will be on display at the Pendleton Art Center until October 29. Curator for the show is Vera Curnow, local artist.

6th Juried Art Show
Rising Sun Hosts 6th Juried Regional Art Show October 1
Artists from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky will compete in the Rising Sun 6th Juried Art Show to be held at the Pendleton Art Center 201 Main Street in Rising Sun Friday October1. A reception will be held from 6 to 9 pm and awards will be presented at 7pm. The show is Sponsored by the Ohio County Tourism Commission.

Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts
Rising Sun Fine Arts Festival September 18 and 19
Award winning artists and artisan’s from all over the United States gather in Rising Sun to display their fine art, fine crafts, jewelry, furniture, and handcrafted musical instruments at the first annual Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts.
Sample Indiana’s wineries, listen to music, stroll along our landscaped river walk for a great day away.

Artist Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 years of age. Up to two entries per artist. A non-refundable $20 fee is required.
Media & Specifications
2-Dimensional -All media. Art must be properly framed, ready to hang with wire – no sawtooth hardware or clip-on frames. No wet paint. Not to exceed 40×40 framed.
3-Dimensional art must come fully assembled on a stable base and be light enough for two people to handle.
All work must be the artist’s original design; not copied from copyrighted material or produced in a workshop.
Artwork must have been executed after 2007 and not been previously displayed at the Rising Sun Pendleton Art Center (includes
the main gallery and private studios.)
NO giclee’ or other reproductions, wearing apparel (i.e. jewelry, clothing) photography (digital or otherwise)
Good News: No commission on Sales!
Artwork may be submitted Not for Sale (NFS.) Price on Request (POR) will not be accepted. Artwork must remain through duration of the Exhibition — offenders will not be eligible for future exhibitions.

Submit one CD with up to two images in jpg format, no larger than 8×10, 300 dpi, RGB color mode. 3-Dimensional work may
be shown with two images each.
Include on the disk the following information typed in a Word document: Title of Work, Artist, Dimensions, Media & Price

Make sure the Entry letter (A or B) of the image on the file matches the letter of the image on the Entry Form.

*Any digital manipulation is limited to making the file look like the original artwork or the work will be disqualified.

Delivery & Return of Work
Check Calendar of Events for dates and times. Artists will receive labels to identify their work upon registration. Special arrangements must be made in advance if work cannot be picked up in time allotted or the artist will be charged a $lO/day storage fee. After 30 days, the work becomes RSIOCT property.
Liability & Insurance.
Reasonable precautions will be made to safeguard all entries. However, Rising Sun Tourism and the Pendleton Art Center will not be responsible for loss or damage to artwork. Works submitted to this exhibition shall indicate the Artwork may be artist’s agreement with the above conditions.
